As business owners, we need to have systems in place so that we can be as organized as possible. When we have our homes and businesses in order, our thought process can easily flow in our mind allowing us to gain clarity and creativity. This system doesn’t have to be complicated. The use of notebooks can have a powerful effect that produces a sense of simplicity which can be duplicated for others to follow and practice it on a daily basis.
In this blog post, we will focus on the old-fashioned way of writing things down. There is power in using the paper and pen method we learned a long time ago. I have come to realize that using it can improve our memory and your vision becomes clear and realistic that enables us to think at higher levels. By practicing what we already know, you become accountable with your own actions. Whether you take action or not, you will not fail anyone else but yourself.
There are three tools that you need for this task:
- Two notebooks
- Planner

The first notebook is to build your 100 Customer List. You have heard before about writing down the names of 100 people you know. We panic when we hear this humongous number and deeply think how in the world are we going to come up with that number of people. What others fail to tell us is that this list is built over time and not in one sitting.
How is it built? We all start with family, friends, and co-workers. Once we have communicated with them, we need to get in the habit of asking for referrals. Who do they know? Ask for 3-4 phone numbers of people they know that may enjoy our products. Those friends know other friends that we may not know. This activity will help you build that list of 100 customers.
Do you want them to keep coming back to you? Do you want them to send you referrals? Then provide excellent customer service. Follow up with them with the 1-1-3 method or the 2-2-2 follow up method. Ask yourself, how can you make them feel important?
The second notebook is for record keeping, inventory tracker and keep up with who bought from you. If you enjoy technology, this system also works on-the-go and later on transfer those numbers and information in general to your virtual system you’re currently using.
What kind of information should you add to this notebook? To keep a record of what you’re selling you will write down what you have on hand. You will keep your inventory in order by writing the name of the product, how many you have sold, how much it cost, who bought it and how many the customer bought. When you keep these details in order, you will have clarity on where you’re going, what kind of adjustments you need to make to reach your intended goal.
Each day you make a sale, you will write it in your notebook. What did the customer buy? How many she bought? Did I collect her name, email and phone number? You will do this every time you sell a bundle each and every day. This routine will help you analyze what is working and what is not working so that you can make the necessary adjustments so that you can reap the rewards of your harvest season. At the end of the week, you will add up your daily totals to that the sum total can be transferred to the final step of this blog post.

The final tool to have is an agenda/planner. When you add your daily sales, you can move the full amount of the day to your agenda. For example, if you sold (2) $30 bundles on Monday, you will take your agenda and under Monday, you will jot down $60 on that day. You will do this process on a daily basis. Let’s say you were able to sell the same amount on Tuesday, you will record that final number for the day. To have an amazing week, you will need a total of $420 which is selling two sets a day. Track your sales daily so that you know where you stand.
A large number of people get discouraged because they don’t write things down so they don’t see their earnings. If it’s not written down, it is not visible. You will not be able to see your business evolve.
Now that you know how to keep track of your sales, have some control of your business, make this a daily habit. When you have everything in place and know exactly what you’re doing, teach others the simplicity of this system.
